I have tried epoxies, polyurethanes but they either were not hard enough or they took literally days to cure. The resin gives me a fast hard coat that saves me hours sometimes days.

    Great stuff!

Simple to use adheres well and leaves a sandable, polishable hard finish. Say goodbye to hardware store 2 part epoxy!

Very Impressed with the characteristics of this product. Superior strength with a superior gloss in a fraction of the time of traditional clear coats. You should start selling it in 5 gallon buckets.

I’ve glassed/finished a lot of different products. I’ve never experienced anything like this. It really is as simple as Gary says it is. Its a game changer.

Besides having a great product Gary and crew are awesome and offer great customer support.

I have been looking for the ultimate finish for my guitars for the last 8 years and I think I finally found it. Solarez is easy to apply, cures almost instantly and is easy to sand and polish. It is a tough finish with very good moisture resistance and can be polished to anywhere from high gloss to matte which is a huge benefit to guitar makers like myself that like to offer satin or matte necks while being able to do a high gloss neck or headstock. Even though I have really good spray equipment being able to brush the product on is a nice thing too. No overspray!! The other very important aspect of Solarez to me is the product/customer support. I would rate Solarez custom service at 10 stars.

I do not need to put ANY catalyst in this IF I am curing in the sunlight, correct??

    Work great
it wont set up till exposed to sun or UV unless you add a Catullus
so you have almost unlimited work time
but when exposed to UV light set up in minutes
i love love it no more waiting for things to dry

If you use any type of plastic or phenolic on the joint or butt caps, apply a thin coat of Solarez grain sealer and cure it. This will give you a little more adhesion and prevent peeling at the edge if you face the joint. Don’t sand it before applying the finish.

I have found that to get a smoother application, apply a small amount of Solarez finish and rub it in with a rubber glove while the cue is spinning. It will get sticky as it dries a little. If you aren’t careful, it will grab the glove and rip it off your hand. Let the thin layer set for about 4-5 minutes but do not cure it. Then liberally apply the finish and smooth it with a playing card. Don’t run the card along the cue or you will get a spiral of finish that is hard to sand out. Touch the card on the finish to smooth it and then move the card about 3/4 of its length and touch the cue again. Let it spin slowly and you can go back and touch any spots that may be ridges to get it as smooth as possible before you cure it with the light.

If you sand through, just sand with 600 a for a few inches each side of the problem and apply some finish. Smooth it with a card. Be sure to feather the ends of the repair or it is not easy to sand it smooth. I feather it with a rubber glove. It repairs easily and you cannot see any witness marks or lines. Cure it and sand it out.

You should be able to get at least .015 build with this finish.

Before purchasing I probably should have done a little more research because I got this hoping to use it with carbon fiber and it worked actually quite well but next time I’ll be getting epoxy….oops

Started using Solarez Gloss Poly Resin for my cues. I use solacure lighting and this stuff cures bone dry in 2 minutes. What used to take a week to accomplish, now takes hours. My cues look dipped in glass. Amazing Stuff!

Solarez is a very handy option for bait makers and custom painters. The coating is very durable and can take some scrapes and scuffing will. It cures quickly to a near clear finish. It helps add a tough shell for baits made from soft woods like balsa.

  16. Mark Bundy

No more varnish/sand/varnish. I can use one coat of Solarez and in less than 6 minutes in the sun I’m done!

  17. Shane

just wish I knew how to just it to come out right.

I finally applied my first finish, a Rickenbacker type “Autumnglo” Burst pattern to guitar #4, and can’t say enough about this product!!! A word of WARNING, however to those that do not have a TOTALLY sun blocked area to apply this product. Use ONLY Fluorescent lighting as well. My walk-in paint booth allowed a bit ov UV to enter on my first attempt, and the stuff began to “gum-up while brushing it on! After stripping it all off, (and sealing the booth), attempt #2 went off without a hitch!! Also, I found that ONLY W/B Aniline Dyes are compatible, NOT the Alcohol versions. One guitar, all prep sanding, Finish application. level sanding, and Final Buff-out can place the instrument in my customer’s anxious little hands in TWENTY FOUR hours!! Beat that, Nitro! Without the risk of toxic inhalation, and possibly blowing one’s self up! In short—BUY IT! Gb bg
